AeroPress
What is an AeroPress?
The AeroPress coffee brewer is a simple and easy to use manual coffee brewer designed by American inventor Alan Adler. A firm favourite here at Fables HQ, the AeroPress produces a clean, full-bodied cup of coffee without bitterness and with remarkably low acidity.

*This recipe uses the inverted method however the same recipe works just as well for the standard method.
- Set up the AeroPress by placing the plunger into the top of the brewing chamber (aligning with the top of number 4) and place onto a level surface upside down (hexagon side up). Insert filter paper into the filter cap.
- Rinse the brewing chamber and filter paper with hot water – this helps to ensure a more consistent brewing temperature and eliminates any paper flavour from the filter paper.
- Add ground coffee into the brewing chamber. Give the AeroPress a light shake to level out the coffee.
- Add 30g water and gently stir to ensure the coffee grounds are fully saturated. Allow the coffee to “bloom” for 30 seconds.
- Add remaining 170g water, stir gently for 10 seconds and let it brew for 30 seconds.
- Stir gently for another 10 seconds and brew for another 30 seconds.
- Secure filter cap, place cup/jug upside down over the top of the AeroPress and flip over. Be careful!
- Push down on the plunger gently and slowly until all the coffee is pushed through the filter (you should hear a hissing sound at the end). Serve and enjoy!
